CGpeat (Coco peat/Coir peat/Coir Dust)
CGpeat - A 100% natural, organic, eco-friendly, renewable resource produced from coconut husks (dust). Potting soil manufacturers add value to potting mixes by adding 10-50% of good quality CGpeat to their potting mixtures. It is a viable alternative to peat moss, and is a perfect multipurpose growing material. It has a PH level of 5-7, 20-25% moisture content, and sand and impurities comprising only 0-5%.
Benefits of CGpeat
Coco peat has a wide range of properties that enhance plant growth and make it a suitable ingredient in potting soil. A few advantages of CGpeat are given below:
Plants grown in CGpeat require less frequent watering owing to the increased water-holding capacity of CGpeat.
CGpeat ensures that the plant receives a sufficient amount of water without compromising on the drainage capacity. This in turn will result in more available water for the plants, as well as better aeration for the roots. The results can be observed in production and quality.
- Strong and Healthy Root System
Plants growing in potting soil containing CGpeat demonstrate a greater number of fine roots in a shorter time than those planted in regular potting soil. The roots benefit from increased aeration, resulting in healthier plants. CGpeat is 100% natural; an organic biodegradable matter.
CGpeat is an eco-friendly renewable resource. It is a stable product that can be used for many years without decomposition affecting its physical make-up or the natural environment we live in.
- CGpeat can be treated
- Reduced need for fertilizer
Owing to CGpeat chemical characteristics, the use of fertilizer is much reduced. Cocopeat has high potassium and phosphorus levels, as well as increased cation exchange capacity. It also has good nutrient retention.
Chemical Effects of CGpeat
• Increased potassium levels
• Improved phosphorus levels
• Increased cation exchange capacity
• Improved nutrient retention
• Reduced frequency and rates of fertilizer application
